Photovoltaic Power Plant
With an installed capacity greater than 137 GWs worldwide
and annual additions of about 40 GWs in recent years,1
solar
photovoltaic (PV) technology has become an increasingly
important energy supply option. A substantial decline in the
cost of solar PV power plants (80% reduction since 2008)2
has improved solar PV’s competitiveness, reducing the needs
for subsidies and enabling solar to compete with other power
generation options in some markets. While the majority of
operating solar projects is in developed economies, the drop in
prices coupled with unreliable grid power and the high cost of
diesel generators has driven fast-growing interest in solar PV
technology in emerging economies as well.
Solar System Design And Commission
Solar power projects require certain design and engineering expertise that is unique to this sector of the power generation industry. The designers and engineers must coordinate their services with the structural and electrical designers and engineers working on the structure to ensure proper integration and scheduling. Historically, relatively few companies designed, engineered, and manufactured solar energy generation equipment, PV or thin film panels, or solar thermal and concentrated solar units. Today there are a number of manufacturers in each of these areas.
a particular company may pay sales commissions for solar power system sales on the basis of cents per watt or dollars per kilowatt (kW) of nameplate system size, the amount of commission is generally based upon the following structure:
5% base commission
2% time-based volume bonus (i.e., so many sales within a month, or a quarter)
2% self-generated (e.g., canvassed) lead
Solar Energy System
1) Test or evaluate photovoltaic (PV) cells or modules.
2) Review specifications and recommend engineering or manufacturing changes to achieve solar design objectives.
3) Perform thermal, stress, or cost reduction analyses for solar systems.
4) Develop standard operation procedures and quality or safety standards for solar installation work.
5) Design or develop vacuum tube collector systems for solar applications.
6) Provide technical direction or support to installation teams during installation, start-up, testing, system commissioning, or performance monitoring.
7) Perform computer simulation of solar photovoltaic (PV) generation system performance or energy production to optimize efficiency.
8) Develop design specifications and functional requirements for residential, commercial, or industrial solar energy systems or components.
